Purge polymer materials previously contaminated during on site handling and then land-filled were investigated by MPS. A comprehensive analysis of the previous 12 months “total” waste costs was carried out to identify cost reduction opportunities.
Detailed “on site” waste process mapping was completed through sister company ICR and an on site project implemented to Pareto all costs and target initiatives that would provide immediate payback.
ICR managed the on site project and implemented systems to review and improve the collection storage and on site handling of the waste materials.
As the previous example MPS managed the trading of the ‘clean waste streams’ and using its extensive data base of recycling companies and material users, recycle routes were identified for previously land-filled materials. The previously land filled materials are now sold for positive value creating a positive contribution to bottom line cost reduction.
